The warmest down jacket from Sierra Designs, the Elite DriDown Parka uses many of the same construction elements as the company’s Mobile Mummy sleeping bag—including box-baffled construction, a secure hood, and a down-filled draft tube behind the front zipper. The 850-fill-power DriDown provides cocoon-like insulation for winter adventures in the wild or around town, while the streamlined design—a pair of insulated hand pockets and not much else—keeps the weight down to 19 ounces. Plus, when stowed in one of its two interior pockets, this parka doubles as a compact pillow.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice between Men’s Black, Dark Gray, Poseidon, or Fired Brick; and Women’s Black, Light Gray, or Purple. Select sizes are available in Men’s S – XXL and Women’s XS – XL. This parka is trim fitting; we recommend going up in size if you plan to layer anything underneath it.
Made from nylon and polyester-ripstop, the shell is treated with a DWR coating that sheds moisture in snowstorms and rain, along with a polyurethane coating that prevents down leakage and provides extra wind protection. Inside, the DriDown stays dry 10 times longer than untreated down, dries 30 percent faster, and retains twice the loft.
Founded in 1965, Sierra Designs makes streamlined, high-performance gear to help people enjoy the great outdoors. The company’s sleeping bags, tents, and apparel have won numerous awards from Outside Magazine, National Geographic, Backpacker Magazine, and more.
