It isn't. It looks the same, no idea about the quality though. There are some knockoffs that can damage your headphones somehow as a picture on Amazon shows.

Any stand will tear up earpads if you insist on improper use.
Given that this is nothing more than a few dollars worth of wood steamed into shape and then laminated, this is the kind of project I'd expect to see out of a high-school shop class, not for sale on Massdrop for $150.

It's exactly the same thing, and I don't get the price of this drop. I think they put the decimal in the wrong place as I was expecting to see $14.99 when it popped up in my email.

Those headphones were left on the stand for 3 months straight and the pads got stuck to it

I see, what you're saying is that this could also happen with the original stand? Wasn't aware of that, I thought it might have something to do with the finish. Not that I'd have bought the original one anyway. The price is a bit too greedy for me.

guess the fingers ran over the surface of the unit should indicate finish level, if it rough and uneven to the the touch, it obviously would indicate some additional sanding & sealing... Hmmm? Something anyone can do with a bit of sandpaper & varnish & common sense.
