Wow, I'm glad you won't ship to Hawaii! I almost thought about buying a lens without a Warranty; possibly (probably) grey market. Amazon. They realize shipping is the same to Hawaii as anywhere else.

This is $10.00 less than amazons listing. Absolutely no incentive to buy it through Massdrop. C'mon now I'm sure there would be several individuals interested in purchasing this lens if there was an actual price difference.

For anyone who wants to use a filter for this, be aware you'll need to use a mounting bracket! Otherwise you'll get vignetting / won't be able to actually place the filter on because of the aspherical front element.

A tempting lens but not quite ready to pull the trigger here. Savings of only $100, the lack of a warranty (if the rumors are true), and then the wait between ice-ages for MD to ship, AND no tax if I buy from the usual NY stores (can't recall if MD charges tax?). For anyone else interested, might be worth it. I have a few Sigma lenses and they are all great!

Right you are! And that's a point I didn't want to press, but will now. Anyone buying a Sigma Art lens from Massdrop is probably not a Pro photographer and certainly not an early adopter of the ART product line (35s and 50s are older lenses now). If you're buying either of those lenses on MD, a) you missed the bus, and b) you haven't been following along with mainstream photography resources most photographers follow daily. Not trying to sound snobby--I'm in the same boat with many of the Audiophile products I'm learning about here on MD--lots of guys know more about that category than I do, and I'm pleased to be learning from them. Back to the topic, what Jason doesn't have control over is the length of time it takes for MD to generate enough buyer commitments for a given manufacturer to commit their resources to. A manufacturer can say, I'll commit when you have 3,000 committed buyers, but who knows how long that will take? And then comes the build and ship time (Zzzz...zzz) it takes to fulfill the final order.

RayFIn this case, they aren't manufacturing these lenses to order. Some dealer is breaking their contract and just shipping them out from their stock when the drop ends.
I am also an audiophile and part of the reason why I keep bringing this warranty issue up is because Massdrop continues to do great things in the audiophile space and it disappoints me to see them tarnishing their reputation and misleading customers on these photography drops. They should stick to what they're good at, and it sure as hell isn't selling lenses. The men's fashion drops are also often good. I have participated in one of them before.

EDIT: Massdrop has resolved this, at least in my opinion. They will give you a receipt from the authorized dealer if and when you require warranty service, and if anything goes wrong they will reimburse you for any repairs. You can see the post below for Duncan from Massdrop's response to my questions. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/nikon-d850-dslr-camera/talk/2017025?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA
You will not be getting a Sigma warranty on this, like Massdrop is advertising. Look at this post below to see someone having to pay Canon out of pocket because of the lack of warranty. Massdrop reimbursed them, but has not clarified the situation for future purchasers. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/canon-ef-100-400mm-f-4-5-5-6l-is-ii-usm-lens/talk/1977363?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA If you'd like, you can read more about the so-called warranty and why it isn't valid in these threads below. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/sigma-150-600mm-5-6-3-contemporary-dg-os-hsm-lens/talk/1930521?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA https://www.massdrop.com/buy/nikon-50mm-f-1-8g-af-s-nikkor-fx-lens/talk/1909148?utm_source=linkshare&referer=T3XNMA

In the specs the Aperture range should say f/1.8-f/16 not f/18–f/16
