Electric skateboards are becoming more and more popular. It’s not a wonder why: They’re easy to use, quick to charge, and can get you places fast Read More
Well my board is completely dead. Dealing with Skatebolt is useless, they just tell me to charge the battery and check the charger. Now they want me to take video of the board not powering on...ridiculous. I've e-mailed Massdrop multiple times for a return and not a single response.
Edit: Massdrop has ignored me thus far. I declined to provide a video to Skatebolt, but they did tell me to send the board in, so I just mailed it out this morning.
This is a difficult lesson; I saved $200 on this group buy but it's not worth it if I still stand to lose out on my $400 purchase. No more expensive purchases on Massdrop, they still have a long way to go when it comes to customer service.
Oh yeah, they fixed it immediately and shipped it right back to me, it was just a disconnected power button. The problem is that working on this board requires you to rip up the grip tape in order to access the screws to open it up. So they did fix the issue, installed brand new grip tape, and sent it back to me. It has been working since. Overall it's not a bad board. Since this drop, I have purchased a Boosted Mini S and a Wowgo 2S. The Skatebolt has the most torque, the fastest acceleration, and the highest top speed. It is the most difficult to ride, I am guessing due to the setup of the trucks and the wheels that are used but the power is excellent and the carving is nice. I can top out at 24mph, GPS verified.
It seems lack of reliability is the nature of the beast with e-skateboards, so I would advise people to buy something that is easy to work on first and foremost, and then watch youtube reviews about ride feel, performance, battery life, etc.
My power button isn't working anymore. Does anybody have a trouble-shooting guide? It would not power down after my last ride, but then powered down automatically after 10 minutes or so. Now it's just not powering on. Is there a procedure to fix this?
I got mine from the drop today. If you participated in the drop, make sure to check the trucks before you ride too far/too fast. Mine was set very loose which is fine, but putting heavy weight on a hard turn caused one of the wheels to touch the board, which makes it come to a dead stop. Happened to both my brother and I; just tightening up the trucks a couple of turns seems to have done the trick.
Check your trucks!
EmileHi Emile! The Tornado model has lower specs than Hurricane. For example, it has hold an acceptable 18 mile range while Hurricane holds 20 miles. Also, the dual motor of Tornado is 500w while hurricane is 1000w.
I have the board and actually love it! The issue is I don't know hot to run on the lights. The controller it came with is different then any of the youtube videos I've seen on the product. The controller I received doesn't have a light button.
TorrinHi Torrin,
The lights are operated with the reverse button. Press and hold the reverse button for 5 seconds and the lights should come on, do the same to turn them off. I hope this helps!
Cheers,
There are many different boards out there that have swappable rear wheels to aftermarket brands, Boosted, Evolve, Carvon, etc... The reason is they have a belt & gear or direct drive system vs a hub wheel system.
