Only two more in 6 days. Should be doable.

Only see 26 bought right now. Don't we need 40 minimum for this to happen? I don't think the commits count unless it gets all the way to the 80

Right. Still, there's three days left. So the drop might make it to the 40 participants. On the other hand I wouldn't be too surprised if not since the price is just too high opposed to that for normal switches, which - as mentioned before - can easily be modified to fit SMD LEDs underneath. So at least for me the price would be reason enough to neglect the drop. Plus, there's simply less need for SMD compatible switches in general.

All modern MKB PCB's are SMD LEDs. It's not economical to make discrete LED PCBs except for DIY markets, mainly because you can't add the LEDs until AFTER the switch is installed. SMD LEDs can be added to the PCB assembly process when the chips and resistors and diodes and such are added with minimal disruption.

So what? How many people do you think are buying an expensive mechanical keyboard just to take it apart, desolder the orginal switches and put in different ones? And how many people have the equipment and the SMD compatible PCB to build a keyboard that needs SMD compatible switches? These switch drops are mostly for us, the DIY market and hardly anyone (as can be seen in the number of participants) needs switches that are SMD compatible. Or did you just want to explain to me in which cases they are needed? If so, thanks... I guess. Anyways, good luck to you guys who need this drop!

The TeamWolf (change it yourself) switch-swapper keyboard offered earlier also needed SMD compatible switches.

I know. And on Massdrop you could already order all the switches you wanted along with it.
