Does the remote control volume, and if so, is it reliable from about 12-15 feet away?
I have plenty of these little $100.00ish desktop amps, but i really need one with a remote that controls volume.
Lots of reviews on Amazon and Youtube--check 'em out!
Not that far no, but you won't be able to read the display from that far either. I also found that the remote seems to drain batteries even though I don't use it that much.
Other than that I really like this unit.
I'm going to give it a try. Wanting to run audio out from the tv to it to power bookshelf speakers in the master bedroom for tv watching in the evenings. If the remote won't reach, the search will continue.
In the Z Review of this DAK/Amp, he mentions the remote is a generic afterthought with limited ability. Another reviewer suggested buying an all-in-one programable remote (Logitech?) and then setting it up for this device. Sounds plausible...
OMgosh, some of the replies here are hilarious! Yes, my experience is that it is reliable from that distance, up to maybe 20, but I mostly use it from a routine distance of about 11-12', and without issue. I occasionally like to see how my system sounds from various parts of my 15' wide room, and just outside the door. Remote has always worked for me. Purchased in May of last year, remote tech might've been updated from older models?
I do this and is very effective. While the remote might not be as robust as a lot of TV/Cable remotes, it will work for standard sitting on the sofa distance.
I bought one of these things. The remote's fine. It's not like TV with internet connectivity, a DAC/amp is pretty damn simple.
Z.... last in line when critical reasoning (and steady hands) were being given out.
