this or the Schiit Fulla 2?
This. The Fulla 2 is riddled with problems.
Love the Fulla 2. Not a single issue with it. Nada, nothing. Incredible sound and very well made. American Made if that matters. To be balanced in my advice, SMSL makes great equipment. Don't think you can go wrong with either.
My fulla2 hisses in its rear outputs
Sonically speaking when both units are in perfect conditions, which is better?
I ordered this SMSL unit from Amazon and returned it that same day. Very clinical and accurate but with no life. High frequencies were harsh and too bright. Bass was very accurate but reduced from what the music intended, I think. Sound stage was good on both. The SMSL felt like it was made by a very competent engineer. They feel well made. The Schiit was made by a great engineer as well but also a musician. Also well made but with components selected for sound quality and reliability.
There's lots of negative misinformation on forums about Schiit. And anecdotal information. They are superb products breaking new ground in the audiophile industry. I have a MS in Electrical Engineering specializing in digital signal processing. But don't just take my word for it. Check out reviews and comments from Zeos Pantera (Z Reviews) on Youtube and superbestaudiofriends.org. I've got two of the Schiit Fulla's that have been without issue. One in my Truck and one in my reading room. My truck has been transformed into incredible sound! Twice I detected noise but once it was a noisy power strip, the other time noisy USB, both easily fixed and not the Fulla's issue. I also own the Modi MB/ Magni stack and Bifrost. Thanks to Schiit my listening enjoyment has gone to a whole new level.
I bought the Schiit Fulla 2, no regrets whatsoever. The unit is incredible upgrade over my onboard. Using the fulla in your truck is a neat idea, I might try mine on my Mazda to see if there is a big improvement
I hope you see a great improvement. My source is an iPod with the camera adapter. I plug in both the Fulla and the iPod to USB power. Works wonderfully.
on my schiit fulla 2, powered with usb or phone charger sounds great on front interface, but rear outputs hiss so I just don't use them. tried it 2 ways: on powered speakers, and to output to another headphone amp using fulla as a dac only, but fulla made them hiss.
Sorry your having that. Schiit has great customer service. I'm sure they'd make it right for you.
