I’m interested in this, but have some questions. 1) I’d be using this with my DT990 Pro (250Ohm), can I assume this would be a good match? 2) I also have a pair of passive speakers on my desktop. Is the RCA line out on the back also amplified or would I still need to run this pas an amp/receiver of some sort. (I’d rather remove what’s currently powering them from the equation). 3) Currently, my headphones are plugged directly into my motherboard, which actually delivers some pretty decent output power (built-in amp should be able to drive 600Ohms). However, one of the reasons for getting this would be to eliminate the horrible interference generated by my GPU. What would be the best way to hook this up to my PC. Would this (completely) eliminate the interference?

Verthem(just answering #3) I recommend an optical cable(Amazon basics is a good quality one in my experience). For my setup it removed all interference issues.
For my setup optical cable to DAC completely removed interference, but I can't promise anything for yours.

JolfrThanks for your reply. It seems 'support for S/PDIF out' means there is an internal header available to provide the signal, but I would be required to buy an expansion card/bracket for the optical connector or DIY my own. I suppose I'll try USB first to see if that suffices.
Any chance you can answer my second question about speaker setup too? Thanks!

VerthemI use these to power the same headset, and it works perfectly fine for me. I use their included cable to plug everything to my computer and it works fine as well. I don't notice any interference. I am also not what one would consider an audiophile so maybe my ears can't tell, but all in all ,to me its great.

Verthemline out on the back (rcas) are not amplified. I own this amp and by flicking the joystick will swap from headphones (dac + amplified) to speakers (just dac no amp).

VerthemI managed to find a seller on amazon.ca (im in Canada) that was the same price as on here, so maybe worth looking around. I chose the m6 based on some comments that it may be a tad warmer than a schiit stack which is more expensive for me in Canada. I was going to go O2dac but also more expensive so this seemed the best fot $215 Loonies. Now waiting for my k7xx to arrive and ill report back.

LMAONAISEI have a hard time finding any of them at all here in the Netherlands, let alone for a price close to what's offered here. It all has to be imported either way, so I might as well do it through Massdrop. But thanks for your answers and advice!

Verthemjust wanted to chime in, my k7xx's came and I think I melted my brain in joy... I've never heard my music so clearly. Amp has a boat load of power for these headphones and is clear (no hums or hisses) at full volume when my music is paused. Good luck finding an amp for your needs :D

Verthem1) yes, should be good for DT990 2) you will need powered speakers or separate amp, RCA is lineout 3) not only interference will be gone, but sound will be much cleaner/punchier

bravomailConcise and precise, I like it ;) Thanks! Can't wait for it to land on my doorstep ^^
p.s. any advice on affordable/bang-for-buck desktop speakeramp and (bookshelf) speakers? I might be able to get a Philips FA930 amp for free (don't know if it's any good), which will fit under my desk (certainly not on it). It has a phono input so that's nice, but it feels more like a living room kind of deal. Getting something a little more suited to the little space I have left on my desktop would be preferable. O:)

bravomailhey bravo, quick question, the m6 lists as 32kb 384khz, when I go to my audio settings the highest I am able to hit is 32kb 192khz, if I go to 32kb 384khz it says "not supported" . I am connecting the m6 with the provided usb-b to my usb 3.0 on my motherboard. Will I even hear the difference between 192 and 384khz? Also, maybe the dac is 384khz but the amp is 192khz... I am confused -_- any advice?
edit: clarity

LMAONAISEI don't know the answer myself, but saw this question (or something like it) a couple of times before. Maybe this helps: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/smsl-m6-dac-amp/talk/592967.
Also, I think the guy from z-review shortly mentions something similar in his vid, so perhaps he or the people on the zreview reddit have the answer?

Verthemthat is actually very very helpful, but I think I am happy enough with the sound quality to mess around with ASIO. I have some reading up on this to do haha.
