Hi, just started in using amps and dacs. I have been using a combo Amp/ Dac for sometime, convenient :) Want to explore tube amps, especially Little Dot MKiii. Just wondering can SMSL M8 work with the MKiii? M8 usb connected to my macbook and RCA cables to the MKiii? Thanks for any info given.

Ive had mine for 1 and a half years now, with absolutely no issues. The sound is good and the build quality is excellent. I suppose im lucky... but i could recommend this.

How are these things breaking? Is it a mechanical issue (ie, jacks breaking from plugging and unplugging cables), or is it some software or internal problem.
I'm curious as to how these are failing, as folks report.

K.T.NIn one case I saw, one of the low noise voltage regulators was busted. Fortunately it was interrupted, not bypassed so it did not break anything downstream.

My M8 is busted eventhough i only used it intermittently - no audio output at all from the left channel. Only about 1 yr old but prob will write off because not worth sending back under warranty

does anyone know if this has better or worse sound quality than the Idsd?
WeezleProb need to fine tune that question since there are about a dozen varities of the iFi's right? I will tell you that on paper the thd looks great for this but we're talking decoding and not amplification. Coincidentally I own the Deckard - bottom line is the TI DAC is its strong point. Just picked up the sister-site deal for LCD-2 w/ iFi micro-iDSD BL for $950. Factor in the super low thd and 4k mv - the iFi is a beast. Further as I read D_9's post (just below) about x256 issues - I think you've got your answer as you read about bitperfect and cruising up to DSD 5, DXD and PCM 7's. I'm blown away with the iFi w/ Amarra SQ+ and some of my cans like LCD-X or TH900mk2's. Now I'm thinking about saving or selling off some of my collection to grip up that damn Pro iCan - I don't care what they say, unless you want to mortage a chord dave - the iFi BL portable and Pro iCan are end games under 2k. hope it helps.

AdamInHiltonHeadSorry.. specifically the idsd nano.. as they are at the same pricepoint.... but i am sensing that you are leaning towards the idsd... the reliability of the m8 is one big concern right now.

Just got my package from last drop. DSDx64 and DSDx128 works. But DSDx256 doesn't work ("sample rate not supported by this device"). What a joke. Should have bought from ebay instead. Don't buy it from massdrop. If you're unlucky like me, you'll get an outdated version.

product description mentions DSDx64 and DSDx128 only, is that info not updated or will it really not support DSDx256? hope massdrop can confirm .. thanks

Is there anyone who suffer buzzing lag with this?

RisewideNot sure what you mean by "buzzing lag". If you use long RCA cables that go around power cables or power adapters, you may hear a slight hum, depending also on the volume on your amp. Re-arranging the cables, and/or using shorter ones helps a lot.
