Hi Sir\Madam I would like to ask you few Q's since I'm new to audio I have the hd558, what amplifier should I pick with? should I go tubes or solid-state? I bought these headphone and I like them, but somehow I want them to sound different or more accurate to instrument than vocal, which is why I think I should try out tubes . thnx in advance :)

It depends what you are seeking. I use the HD558s and Beyer DT880s/ Senn HD580s with a Solid State SMSL AD1955 DAC (soon to be replaced with SMSL M8) and SMSl SapII pro headphone amp combination. If all (LOL) you want is good clean undistorted sound then a *good* Solid state amp of sufficient power (the 558s are not hard to drive) used within its operating specs will do perfectly well and will generally be rather cheaper than a Tube alternative. You can get Tube amps that are similarly clean and flat but typically it is a more expensive option. Unless you are comparing a seriously flawed SS amp taking the tube option will almost never result in a measurably or audibly more **accurate** sound at the sort of moneys you will want to spend ! However if you want more accurate sound look to your headphones first. These (headphones in general) are by a huge margin the least accurate part of the audio chain
