Incredible value DAC! I love the rotating display features. Kind of a cheezy feature, but when you have limited space on your desk, it is actually pretty cool idea. I have not used the remote, but I am sure it is nice. It is always an arms reach away to switch inputs. SQ wise, this is killer! AK4490 for sure. Kind of warm, I would say warmish, and very spacious. Not the last on overall detail, but the most amount of detail I have heard from a DAC in this price range. Only a notch down from my Bifrost Multibit in terms of space and details, very similar tonality though.

This is a musical little DAC. I currently have this DAC running through the THX AAA 789 to the STAX 2170. With this equipment chain, the top end detail is present. Low end isn't lacking. This is a great sub-$100 DAC.

I love the features, the price, and the performance. It loses two stars because it came partially broken: The remote didn't work. I set up an Arduino with an IR code reader and made sure the remote was sending out a signal. It was. I cracked open the Sanskrit, checked the IR receiver, and verified it was functioning correctly. Which left a chip on the board, which likely had proprietary code from SMSL on it in order to decode the hex code signals being sent from the remote. I emailed them directly and asked if I could get a replacement chip so I could get fix my unit and get the remote working. That was some time ago, and still no response. Overall, I love the product. It sounds fine, I love that it's so mobile, and if the remote worked, it'd be perfect for the price, especially since I want to use it with powered monitors. C'est la vie.
