EmalBecause massdrop and Amazon work in fundamentally different ways. Amazon keeps stock of whatever items they sell (on behalf of the manufacturer), or the seller uses amazon as a shop front and has stock ready. This means that of the item is in stock, Amazon can ship it out immediately. If the item is out of stock, Amazon will not let you buy it, or will tell you when the restock is happening.
Mass drop does not keep ready inventory in their warehouse. Instead, they organize a group buy, and then submit the order directly to the manufacturer or vendor. At this point, the items are first manufacturered then shipped to massdrop, who will then ship it out to you. That is why amazon can send it out immediately, but you have to wait with massdrop.
As for shipping, it likely comes down to size. Mass drop is many times smaller than amazon, and Amazon ships out many many more products at a time, so it's easier for Amazon to give something free shipping cos they can recover this cost in other ways (like bundling a small item to a much larger shipment, or absorbing the cost entirely if you have a distribution center close to you).
Hope this helps :)
NeraloI know how Massdrop works. It just does not make sense how it costs $62 for this item when I can buy it right now and have it delivered in two days for $65. At least make it cheaper...
knoordhuisIt's cheaper on amazon with instant delivery. The point of group buy is to have thing cheaper, not at the same price or higher with months before shipping
poca1. amazon is still more expesive for me. (65 euros on amazon.de)
2. we dont have amazon in the netherlands for products, only for books so it has to come from germany or england so $9 shipping is cheap
Der_Teufelif i order it on massdrop then i could be paying tax, they dont look at all of the packages at the customs i believe. if i order it from amazon then no i dont pay extra tax to get it into the netherlands as you can ship stuff tax free from country to country in the EU
