greatexThis has more power than m3, but even though it will drive them to an earpiercing volume I don't think it has enough to properly drive a 300ohm headphone.. I hated my HD600s through the 793II (Mind HD600 has kinda boring signature anyway and IMO needs a tube amp to warm it). I'd maybe get Schiit Stack, Darkvoice or even the Little Dot rather for them .
I would hazard a guess that Sennheiser originally designed the HD6xx series to be used with high-powered AV receivers (or rather be able to withstand), also why they have such a long cable (idk about the Massdrop version cable).

J.MillerLoud does not equal driven properly. The HD650 has a nutty 550ohm resistance peak at the 100Hz region, the amp in SD793 is lousy to begin with and will not offer anywhere near proper power. If you are happy with the performance of your unit that's fine, but I would implore you to at least give them a go on a good (class A/balanced/tube) amplifier.

ranefinWell, that's presumptuous :p
The only thing i'd like is more headroom. I didnt say the sd793ii was trading blows with the likes of a bottlehead crack and to be clear I'm not pretending it does, but it's a damn sight better than some people are claiming on here. It's not perfect, but for the money it's very difficult not to recommend that people at least try it and i'm not the only person who thinks so.
I Don't know why you think the 600/650s were designed for av amps; there's no correlation between how powerful an amp is and how good it's headphone output is. ie, my 23kg onkyo 805's headphone output is rubbish but the amp itself is extremely capable :)

J.MillerLook, this is turning into a convoluted argument and I am not interested. My main point is this product was not designed to power high impedance cans and in my personal opinion while it has a solid DAC the headphone amplifier itself is of poor quality.

ranefinIf you're not interested then it's probably best not to start the discussion.
