The product description says: " Equipped with an RCA out, the SMSL SP100 can also be used as a stereo preamplifier for other amps and active speakers." The picture of the back panel only shows two RCA inputs, though. Some disconnect here?

BanetbobI saw IN 1 means "Audio In"; IN 2 means "Audio Out" in the back panel.

VavrochI see in the manual the RCAs are indicated as "In" and "Out", not IN 1 and IN 2 as they are on the unit. The manual also notes that the "Out" jacks are signal pass-throughs with no volume control or amplification.

Banetbobeither works for either - switched my powered speakers from In1 to In2 and DAC from In2 to In1 and back again... it works either way?!?
