I have severe problems deciding between this dac and the balanced Grace SDAC: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-grace-design-standard-dac-balanced Anyone compared the SMSL SU-8 compared to the Grace SDAC in real life?

rajaprukIt would be difficult since they haven't made them yet. The drop isn't for a year almost, I believe.

rajaprukI think you're asking the wrong question. DACs are more or less similar. Features are what should be debated in this comparison. Ones got a remote, one doesn't. One has 9 filter options, one doesn't. One has toslink, one doesn't. Find out what you need for your setup. One ships sooner than the other. One cost $50 more. Best of luck.

rajaprukThe Original Grace Design SDAC (which is currently dropping) is probably THE best standalone DAC on the market from a price:performance ratio.
For $79 bucks you get a very well executed DAC that sounds crystal clear with no other "fluff."
Now, some people need "fluff" like a remote input, or toslink, or balanced outputs, etc... but if all you want is to go from digital to analog the Grace Design is your huckleberry.

ohsigmachiagree. Now if u want to save a power outlet - u can go with USB only DAC (Sabaj Da2 for example). Or if u have extra 20 - u can get Schiit Modi 3 to get optical and coax. All 3 DACs measured good on audiosciencereview.

bravomailMy Grace Design SDAC does not have a power supply, USB power only.
