I wouldn't pack this on every trip, just because it lacks some of the versatility that the Primus Micron Lantern does (with it's ability to double as a cooktop in a pinch) and also because it's more susceptible to damage with the glass cover. However, the flickering candle flame that it produces is more pleasing and it doesn't take up much space or add much weight. It's a great alternative and looks to consume even less gas than the Primus. I wish that there was a bit more adjustability to the flame, as the adjuster knob really has almost no noticeable effect on the size or brightness of the flame. Rotating the base of the glass cover is the only thing that has a significant effect on the brightness. That said, it's plenty enough light to provide visibility for reading while remaining small enough that I feel safe operating to aid navigation inside a tent. A luxury item, for sure, but one that won't weigh you down and delivers one of those creature comforts that makes the ounces worth it, if you have the space to spare.

Definitely a luxury item. Nothing like candlelit dinner while backpacking. It seems well-made and I like the adjustable flame.

Extremely fuel efficient. Has the light output of a candle but without the threat of being blown out. Using it several hours a night over a week only equates to about one water boil.

When my large tanks are empty, they still fuel the snow peak mini flame. Requires an adapter from larger to smaller thread if using bigger tanks but had one on hand from another drop. Light is bright as a candle, great secondary light source.

MajorptnAre you referencing Kovea's adaptor to go from isobutane to LPG? I use that all the time on my stove, just wondering if it will work for this item, too. The threads look the same.

alpinechrisyes, it should work. I used the same adapter for stoves and isobutane to LPG for the snow peak flame.

In general, it's a pleasure to use. Sure, I wish it were just a little bit lighter, but it's fine. My only complaint was that it is susceptible to wind. Even walking around with it at a normal pace is enough to extinguish the flame.

It gives about the same amount of light as a candle without the mess.
