I have had mine for about nine months. I do oil it regularly and we use it at least a couple of times a week. I couldn’t be happier! It’s beautiful and functional. I had trouble finding a reasonably priced end grain cutting board this thick. I am so happy I found this one.

As many have noted, this cutting board is very disappointing. When it first arrived I was really excited yet did not use it until I had a chance to condition/oil it. I used it carefully for a few weeks, handwashing of course, drying and applying more oil. By 4 weeks - it warped and cracked with large crevices along the joint lines. Truly disappointed as it looked great on the counter and I was enjoying using it. If there is not remedy with Massdrop then I see no reason to take another chance on another drop.

Warped and cracked in the first week of careful use, oiled when it arrived and cleaned carefully. Very disappointing.

kate886Well Kate maybe that 80% bickering is well deserved and members are trying to give others a heads up. Sometimes bickering is the proper response to an inferior product.

It would be great to see some different sizes and wood options. I've been looking for a ~18-24" Walnut end grain for a while!

I bought during the last go round, very disappointed, inferior cutting board. Save up, buy better, get a board that will last a lifetime.

I got this board from the last drop. After a bit over a month, no cracking or warping. This thing is massive and impressive (granted, I'm not a chef, so maybe this is normal). I treated it with mineral oil a couple of times and so far so good!

$15. Solid and doesn't warp. When it dies. It's only $15. And no trees were cut down.... but some grass was mowed.

Or they could be taking fallen limbs. Point is, you are the one making the assumptions. And using those assumptions to steer people away from the product, when you truly know nothing about their particular practices.

back to your questions. based on other reviews for thisdrop and from BB&B reviews it's clear this board warps. Based on my own and others I know who use the cheap ikea bamboo board: those don't warp, cost less, last a long time , don't crack, are heavy duty...and are made from a known renewable source since its harvested from grass.
My guesses as to how the mnfd is able to say no trees were harvested were guesses. I didn't ask people to be skeptical about how they got the wood and never used their sourcing as reasons not to buy. Not sure why you care so much.
i gave input based on years of woodworking.... and having made end grain boards myself.
As for my comment "no trees were cut down..." if you read the context you'll note I was referring to the IKEA bamboo boards since bamboo is a grass and not wood.
Life really is too short to be so grumpy

xanaduusIt says in the item description "Crafted from recovered American and Canadian maple wood". Recovered means salvage.

Agarwaen24And it also says in the description, "No trees were harvested to make the block", which is why I don't understand where the question comes from, and thought that maybe the question wasn't the obvious.

would be very, very interested in a 18x24x2 cutting board. very. Our 1" thick one is cracking, would love to go to 2".
