Looks great, quality could be better
The vacuum sealed glass broke after a while despite it being well taken care of. No drops or anything, never put hot liquid in when it was cold or vice versa, just up and shattered one day when removing the lid. The tea strainer is also a bit of a PITA to clean, the seams aren't smooth.

UPDATE: My bottle actually just broke! The base of the inner glass completely shattered while walking home with it in my backpack. I didn't set it down hard so I'm not sure if it was just the constant walking with it or what, but it was quite alarming to see and I'm glad I was paying attention when I went to drink from it. I've contacted Soma about it today so I'll update my review based on their response. Original: I've been using this for almost a year now, and it's still working well. I'll echo what davidly said, the strainer works great, the insulation is just okay. I normally finish my tea before it's too cold to drink, unless I get distracted, so it hasn't come back to bite me too often. I also take the strainer out after I'm done steeping, so I don't run into any of the drinking issues with it in.

mine just shattered completely, spraying glass all over my counter into my food, etc. I'm not going to recommend this device anymore after that...

aesthetically pleasing, but functionally mediocre. Doesn't keep the liquid hot for longer than an hour. No competition compared to a double walled metal bottle. Good tea strainer. Last few sips don't come out past the strainer easily.

First off let me say I love this bottle. It's not perfect but for what it is I enjoy it immensely. It has a few flaws that are acceptable because of the ability it has to be a water bottle, pour over, tea strainer. If you are just looking for a water bottle I'd look elsewhere. Pro's: Extremely easy to use. I was a little worried the strainer would have a few flaws. Most Notably difficulty to clean after making tea because the wholes on the sides are too small. or that the coffee would leak out the sides when doing a pour over. However Soma seems to have mastered the best of both of these. It's super easy to clean after tea I Just dump it out in the trash then run it under water and it cleans it out. As for the pour over. I use 16 oz of ground coffee in it and it fits just fine. Water doesn't spill out the side and just like the tea super easy to clean. It even has a little handle on the top of the strainer which is handy for pulling it out. A note, I use a goose neck kettle for my pour over. The strainer isn't huge so it might be a little more difficult with a normal kettle spout, and even with the goose neck you have to pour slower then you would with a normal pour over. I like the looks of it, it's very clean and hasn't scratched anything, and is very easy to clean with a very wide mouth top. It does keep the contents warm for a very long time. I haven't done cold water in it yet, but I presume it would have a similar effect. Cons: As I said, It is not perfect. First being cosmetic. I'm a bit of a symmetry freak (learned that early on with legos). The interior part of the glass is not perfectly centered. Most people don't notice, but as I said it does bother me when it has really strong colored liquids inside. That however is the only real cosmetic flaw and I assume will vary from bottle to bottle. The rest of the problems however has to do with function. The bottle is very smooth and heavy even when empty. The problem with that is there are no handles, so when it is wet, especially when cleaning) it is very slippery and I'm scared I'll drop it. As I said there are no handles so you can't clip it onto a bag or anything which is a disappointment. Also when wet it is a little more difficult to get the lid off. There are actually 2 levels to the black lid so it doubles the amount of trickiness. The helpful handle for the strainer is made of the same metal as the strainer so it gets hot as does the strainer so I must use a towel to hold it as I dump it out. I've burnt myself once or twice forgetting this. The final disappointment is that while it does keep liquids hot. It does not stay cool on the outside. I'm not talking about slightly warm, but uncomfortably hot. Hot enough that I don't want to hold it for long periods of time, and as I said no form of handle. If you are just looking for a water bottle I would probably look elsewhere. However if you are looking for something that has a built in pour over/tea strainer then this is the best I've found. Even with all the con's I would order another! Hope this helps.

EDIT: Soma customer service is the worst.
My original review at the bottom. This is my experience since then: I actually love everything about this concept and used this brewer nearly daily for both pour-over and cold brew coffee. As a long-time coffee geek and one-time coffee industry guy, I got some pretty great brews out of this. For about 8 months. Then the filter started to separate. The filter basket is a perforated stainless basket. It's lined with a fine metal mesh, including a disc on the bottom. The disc in mine started to detach (there are five points connecting it to the filter, three of mine failed). Coffee grounds began to slip under the mesh and clog the filter. My brew times went from 5 minutes to about 15, ruining both the coffee and my morning routine. I contacted Soma hoping to purchase a replacement filter. That was in mid-June; it's now been more than 2 1/2 months. I have a string of well over a dozen emails back and forth with customer service. Including at least two sent after no response from them for several weeks and me basically saying, "Hello? Anything going on?" I even opened a second service ticket in the hopes that someone else would step up and actually help. I was finally assured a replacement was on the way (Huzzah! and for no charge!). That was three weeks ago. When I reached out again, I was told that the filter had been received. ??? I wish it had, I'd love to be able to use this product again. This is hands-down the worst customer service experience I've ever had. If the brew bottle works for you, excellent. If you ever have an issue with it, you're on your own. Soma isn't interested in helping its customers. >>>>>>>>>>>>> Original: Ok, this brew bottle is pretty awesome. Makes an excellent pourover; I like it better than my Hario pourover. Heard something about the verticality of the filter that makes for a better brew. Also, best cold brew I've had yet with some Ethiopian Sidamo. I use this daily, take it to work to make a second cup. Great little touches, too, like the "With coffee, everything is possible" stamped into the side of the filter.

[Update Sept 2019] - While I enjoyed the design and aesthetic of this product (it is quite convenient), after seeing how it fails catastrophically, I can no longer recommend this. The two sections of glass have a pressure differential between them inherently (airtight seal + heat) which means any failure has the potential to go catastrophic. Instead of just cracking and breaking into a few pieces like most glass products, it self obliterated into 3 or 4 large easy to pick up shards of glass and infinite pieces of glass particle dust, some of which made it over 5 feet away. It took about 45 minutes to clean every small piece out of every nook and cranny, and I'm fortunate that I have mostly smooth flooring with little carpet. Overall, this catastrophic failure means I will not recommend this anymore. It's unfortunate, because the rest of the design is truly quality. Just if you plan on ever having any "set it down a smidge too hard" or "knocked it with a spoon" moments, prepare for absolute disaster. [Original] Pretty convenient. I use this to make daily cold brew for work. Easy enough to clean and (so far) it hasn't broken. A tad worried about the glass but I prefer glass for non-water beverages (as opposed to Hydroflasks, which can absorb flavors over time)
