Seeing one of the older photos below. Is this Drop for a new unit or like-new (refurbished?) unit?

I'd jump on this, if it wasn't the international spec. The RX100 line is a very well respected line of Sony Compact cameras. With a 1" sensor, it has better low light performance compared to many other compact cameras. There are currently 6 in production models of the RX100 line, from the MK 1 all the way to MK 6. Note the MK 5 was recently re-released as the MK 5A with some minor updates and the original MK 5 is no longer for sale. Yes, the MK 3 is a bit old. Doesn't have all the fancy features of the newer generation, but still it is a solid camera, especially at this price point.

Is this drop for the II or the III. It says III in several places but under Endless Capabilities it says II. Also several of the 2018 discussions reference the II.

I'm new to photography and need a good EASY TO USE camera that I can take pictures of my fountain pens with, so highquality detailed/zoomable pix are a must, is this a good option? If not what is?

PenChick87Always hard to gauge how "easy to use" a camera will be for people. Some people can pick things up super quickly with little to no direction. Other's will still be lost with the simplest of menus. I assume when you mean Zommable pix you mean that you can digitally zoom in and whatnot on a photo editing software. This camera takes 20MP images, which gives some flexibility in terms of post photo cropping. However, you also would need to consider the Macro Capabilities of the camera as well. Are you looking to take full body images of the pens or only specific parts?

Dragon1291Hi! Thanks for responding. I would like full body primarily but also close ups of nibs, what models would you suggest to start with?

Note, there are 6 iterations of this rx100 camera. This is the third of 6. The current going rate of the mark 3 is about $650.

BReal38Yes looks like it https://www.sony.com/electronics/cyber-shot-compact-cameras/dsc-rx100m4/specifications

Movie Recording Mode (NTSC) XAVC S 4K: 30p 100M (3,840 x 2,160/30p) The III model (this drop) only supports 4K output to a TV for still images and doesn't record video in 4K
