not a good price for a massdrop, they go on sale under $1k on accessoryjack, current price is $1090, really disappointing on you MD.
Did you ever purchase from accessoryjack? How's your experience? I'm very tempting to buy from them but not sure if they are trustworthy.
They're fine. Bought my HS1551's from them with 0 issue. Would buy from them again.
AccessoryJack is fine to purchase from, but don't expect any warranty. They deal in grey goods, which is fine, but manufacturers don't always honor the warranty on grey good items. If there's a warranty on this drop, then I think it's an excellent value, given the newness of the IER M9. But there's also perspective to consider: I've had a bad run on electronics lately, so a warranty might be more valuable to me than to others.
Thanks. I want to buy a pair of Acoustune as well!
Sounds great. Thank you so much for all these details. I need to think over the trade-offs before I make a purchase. Warranty is important, but AccessoryJask has tempting prices.
Quoted below is the relevant portion of AccessoryJack's warranty verbatim. I don't consider it much of a warranty because there's no time frame. You can read more about their warranty on the FAQ section of AccessoryJack's website.
"However, the warranty issued, unless otherwise stated, is usually effective in Hong Kong. To take the warranty, you will be responsible to mail us the product and we will help to fix it by authorized professional personnel at distributors. Then we will ship it back to you."
Thanks a lot. Will check their website!
Whats your opinion / thoughts on the HS1551s? anything else you could compare it to?
I have Andromeda’s too. I use both with the stock campfire comply foam tips, but L on the acoustunes and M on the Andromedas. And they both sound really good off my iPhone 6S.
In terms of sound, they actually sound quite similar. The sound signature at least. (Keep in mind the L comply foams drastically changed the same of the acoustunes, I prefer them over all the stock tips).
Anyway, soundstage and imaging is fairly equal, there’s a lot more bass and impact on the acoustunes, the mids have this really nice thickness and texture but don’t sound muddy or fuzzy, just really chesty. Maybe a little more treble in the andromedas but the acoustunes tend to have a more realistic treble to me. (Bells sounds like bells, etc).
the acoustunes are a little more distant sounding with these tips though, also I reckon detail is about the same but andros pull ahead in terms of detail.
if I was to compare with the stock tips, the acoustunes then easily lose out in soundstage and imaging. And the sound changes to be a lot more mid-upper mid forward, but also a lot thicker - too much. For me they become too thick but the upper mids made them sound clear at the same time, it’s a bit different. They also get a good bit more bass, which again is a little too much for me. Detail sounds worse on the acoustunes, but that might be an illusion from the tuning. As always take all that with a grain of salt. That was all just a random stream of thoughs. Hope that helps!
