Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

This doesn't even have good audio hardware, 20mW is jack squat in terms of power. Good luck driving anything but an IEM properly with that.
Not to mention the Sansa Clip+ is $30 and pretty much any music-focused iPod <$150 these days. This is twice the price.
Or maybe I just don't understand what gigantic, inefficient non-portable headphone you're trying to power with a tiny, portable player.
Please stop spreading misinformation to prospective buyers - you don't need 10W of Class A to power a portable setup. This player will be fine for majority of people that
- Don't want to drain their phone battery by listening to music - Hate how the output impedance of phones messes with the crossover of their multi-drive IEMs - Hate the EM interference from their phone's terrible analogue out - Don't want to carry around a 2lb stack of electronics with an external amp or DAC attached to their phone - Don't want to carry their phone while working out
Etc.. etc..
I like having something dedicated to music. I don't really care about high res audio, storage is what I care about. I want a lot of storage without having to worry about all the space being taken up by dumbass apps and all the other stuff on my phone. It doesn't drain battery from a bunch of other nonsense going on in the background either, just from its core function. Phones are replaced frequently too. This is the first time I've actually HAD to replace my ipod nano in almost 8 years (and only because it was at my workplace during a fire). I have been meaning to move up in capacity but it hadn't given out yet where I absolutely had to. I don't want to have to resync ALL of my music every time I get a new phone (it's a lot and growing all the time). An expense like this will only be necessary a few times in my life whereas I'll probably go through countless phones so the price isn't really that awful. I don't know about the longevity of this one personally, but all the reviews I've read so far have only good stuff to say about it. I'm not saying I go out buying an individual device for each function smartphones have, but this is something I use so much that I want something dedicated to it. If that makes sense, it did in my head.
I also use earbuds, screw headphones.
