I bought this lens almost 5 years ago and loved it... Until it and about $10k worth of cameras and lenses were stolen. So I bought a whole 'nother bag and equipment, but this time I went with the Distagon T FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA. Great lens, great reviews, Fabulous!! Except I ended up hating that lens. Heavy, expensive, and... A complete lack of any soul or character; flat, technically correct but total lack of emotion. I had to buy another 35-2.8.
I still use the 35-1.4, always stopped down, for landscapes and such, WAY better resolution, but the 35-2.8 stays on my camera most of the time, even indoors in low light. The little Sonnar 35 paints a picture with the classic Zeiss pop and the bokeh is gorgeous and continues to convey a sense of depth as the scene goes out of focus, unlike the 1.4. This little plastic toy looking lens is my absolute favorite 35.
