Very Comfortable. Sound is Good, Not Great. Nice Case. Noise cancelling is Good.
I wanted some bluetooth cans to use on a new device without a stereo jack, and after some debating between the Sennheiser and Sony, got these. Note that these were replacing wired Sennheiser Momentum over-ear (more like on-ear) which I (mostly) loved for the nuance and clarity. First off, the Sony's are much more comfortable than the old Sennheiser's which don't cover the ear but sit on it and cause pressure pain and heat after a while. That was the main reason I decided to try the Sony this time, and I was not disappointed --- the Sony's are super comfy. However, the sound quality wasn't what I was expecting --- my first complaint is that the bass is not as distinct as I am used to and kind of muddles together. The highs aren't as crisp. I loved the clarity of my wired Momentums, and these simply don't compare sound-wise. That said, I didn't try the bluetooth Sennheiser's so I can't say if that version sounds better than the Sony, or even as good as the wired Momentums. I may try to borrow some and see. Mildly disappointed, but these will suffice for loud airplane rides which was the main use case. For actual listening, I guess I'll get the USB -> stereo jack adapter and plug in my old Senn's.

AriesI'd definitely recommend comparing BT to BT devices as the sound quality is limited by the codecs it supports. To give you and idea, BT codecs, AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX HD and LDAC vary in bit rates from 250kbps - 990kbps in that order. and depending on many factors like the chipset in your phone or player and the device itself the bit rate will vary. Bluetooth data transmission rates are not the most stable and are heavily influenced by what other 2.4GHZ devices and signals are around. Don't get me wrong I almost exclusively listen to True Wireless audio equipment and I was looking at these Sony's to add to my collection, even if you were using LDAC to stream your music it's just not a fair comparison based on the limitation of BT technology, however that doesn't mean you can't get a great sounding set of Bluetooth Cans/Buds.

D3myzThanks for the details. I knew I’d be getting less over BT but again the Sony comfort and simplicity of no wire plus noise cancel made these solid airplane cans. I also find them great for daily working out on rowing machine where the cable is a problem so I get much more use than I expected. For this reason I’ll probably compare to the new BT Momentum when they go on sale. For desktop critical listening I’ve got a new GracexDrop DAC with THX 789 on the way. I’m still waiting on BF sales for real cans to decide but eyeing planar magnetics.
