Bought this phone like 5 months ago at its full price, I regret nothing. This is a great phone, sturdier than it looks. Fits in girl pockets, just. I have no screen protector or case, and it is totally scratchless and undamaged by my unkind treatment. Battery life is really good, 8 hours of streaming music puts you back maybe 30%. And on that note, it still has a headphone jack. For those concerned about the Android version, it'll update to Oreo right away.
Note 8 fellas.

Old model. New Sony phones come with Oreo. Figures MD's gonna push another piece of outdated tech 🙄

ZettoHow not having the last OS make a device "outdated" or "obsolete"? Also sony is releasing oreo for this model.

I wish they'd do a drop for the XZ1 Compact...I'm still not convinced bigger is better...here, I made a poll:

TheIzzardKingPhone does not have CDMA, so there's a change it may not work.

I got this phone, it is pretty good. Not at all a heavy user though, I use it pretty casually. I bought this phone because it was very consumer friendly (headphone jack & microsd card slot) which is why I chose it from the competitors such as the OnePlus 5 and HTC U11. This phone was also like 300 dollars cheaper than the S8. I was worried about the Battery Life originally, but I have yet to be disappointed in it. I keep it on 2-3 days at a time. The battery does get noticably drained when playing video however, but I have been doing that on the metro for 30 min every day. It has still managed to keep up it's battery life. I really don't play games on it or do anything intensive on it. I have some stock apps running all day along with some other notifications. I reenabled the fingerprint sensor by changing the firmware, but it is definately not what an average joe should know how to do.
Problems with it is that there are barely any cases for it. I bought a metal devilcase for it, but I found that it was actually blocking call and wifi signal. There are barely any high quality options for it besides the devilcase. People have been complaining about scratches, but I guess my devilcase has been doing the job. I don't got anything on mine besides some smudges.
Ultimately, there are some compromises when buying this phone, but those compromises are something I could live with. This is from of a perspective of someone who just uses it casually instead of a second working computer.

I actually had that, but I didn't like the quality of it. I had one of their previous brands on my iphone. It started yellowing after a year and apparently it is the same issue with the newer ones as well.

I was on the verge of buying that last week... But there are several things that put me down. Battery life, no Fingerprint sensor, overall design (you can like it or dislike it, but that thing is bulky for that screen size). Yes, it is a great price point for the specs, but most of those that differentiate it from the competition are gimmicks. 3D avatar creation, 4k screen (who needs 8M pixels in a <30 inch screen?)... Also heard bad things about the glass all around, and having had a Z Ultra that ended up scratched everywhere, I decided to pass. In any case, you get flagship at midrange price so if you are in a budget either this or the Razer phone when on sale are great options. The OnePlus 5t will be the leader in the category. I went for a Note 8 because I prefer a bigger screen.

And that's perfectly okay, for me this phone works great and I got it at a good price. If I could trade it out for another phone though I'd choose the HTC U11+.

ZomNomNomExactly it is ultimately up to you to decide if it will work or not for you.

Alrighty Peeps, this is actually the XZ Premium, not the standard XZ. I have been rocking this bad boi for around half a year now. Honestly at this price it's incredibly worth it. 4K HDR screen, Semi-great camera, fast updates, stock android, fast internal memory, headphone jack, sd card slot, waterproof, phone keeps getting better with updates as well.
I do have a few scratches in my screen over half a year of use, one of which is pretty deep.
Ask me anything!
*edit* Oh Snap, US Model. No fingerprint sensor initially enabled but it's easy to flash any other ROM to regain the FP sensor. I have been using the HK rom on mine (since it was an international edition), and I've had zero issues on T-Mobile using ST.
*edit edit* I have the "Chrome" or as I like to call it the Mirror Edition. Fair warning, if you're in a meeting and you look at your phone a lot ignoring what's going on because you don't really know why you're at this weekly meeting again the mirror finish is also on the front so changes are you'll blind yourself with the lights above reflecting into your eyes. And it'll reflect the light onto the ceiling as well so people will notice if you're on your phone. The Deepsea Black is actually a really cool black / blue color. There is also this fire red version but that's available on Amazon.

Here's a basic guide for the XZ Premium: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xz-premium/help/flashing-generic-fw-simple-guide-t3652103 Newflasher: https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/progress-newflasher-xperia-command-line-t3619426
All you really need to grab is a non-US firmware, I'm currently using the Journalists one since it tends to come with less additional apps pre-installed. Also, from my experience, anytime you flash there's a high probability that your data will be corrupted in some fashion, requiring a wipe, so just be aware of the possibility.

Almost just got one myself but the XZ2 line is being announced at the end of the month. Hope they keep the red!
