Who voted for this lens...? I'm sure the people would agree that any GM lens would be the fan favorite around here.

SulZI have been seriously annoyed about the same damned thing, I keep pushing for a real damned sony lens and its nothing but kit lens after kit lens after kit lens and its total crap. Give me a 16-35, or a 24-70, or even a damned prime. Something to sink my teeth into.

quihgonLet's get a real poll in. @Massdrop, let's make this happen for the Sony/E-mount enthusiasts. Any of the GM lenses would do the community good.
  • 16-35mm f2.8
  • 24mm f1.4
  • 35mm f1.4
  • 24-70mm f2.8
  • 85mm f1.4
  • 70-200mm f2.8
Please and thank you!

JaysunUnfortunately no. They're not exactly great for the type of photography that I focus on which are street portraits and landscape photos. The 35mm f2.8 is only okay because it's portable and light, but suffers from vignetting in photos (unless you're into that out of camera). The 55mm f1.8 is more of a premium version of the Sony 50mm f1.8 counterpart, which in my opinion, isn't worth the much higher price tag ($200~ vs $900) given the quality isn't exponentially better. I won't make the decision for the community, but I'm sure if we can get a GM lens as part of the drop, it would be absolutely amazing.

SulZI appreciate your input as well as the explanation behind your answer. Let me dig a little deeper to see what we can make available.

JaysunThe 35mm 2.8 is a great walk around lens, it has one of the best compactness - quality ratio in the lineup, being maybe the shortest full frame lens, but having decent quality.

JaysunPlease do, I want a real lens. Give us a 24mm prime, or a 16-35 gmaster, a 24-70 would be great, any actual higher end g master lens. I also do street photography and landscape. I've been waiting months and the community usually always go right for the cheapo kit lens or the cheapo 35 and 50 amazing plastic. I would very much like something I can sink my teeth into and add to my lineup that isn't an 8 year old Zeiss lens.

YwmunI'm not too big of a fan of APS-C lenses simply because I don't use them often enough to know exactly what a 16mm would constitute on a full frame camera like the A7iii (APS-C versions are cropped). I would prefer to stick with a full frame lens for simplicity sake.

YwmunYeah that's why I'm asking them to see what they can do because there are a lot of FF shooters. I don't have anything against APS-C but I'd prefer FF.
