Not sure if these actually work but fair warning, if you are not a locksmith it's actually an arrestable offense to be caught in possession of lock picking tools in the U.S.

EARiderDepends on the state and municipality, but everyone who would be interested in carrying lockpicking tools should certainly check their local and state laws.

EARiderThats not true. Most states it is legal, some states consider them implements of burglary if you are also in a situation where your motives could be malicious. There is really only legal concern in a couple of states. Please dont spread FUD. Do your research https://toool.us/laws.html

0-0-fMost of the States it's very legal unless you're out committing crimes with them. Just don't bring them in Tennessee or whatever.

EARiderI know they already raked you over the coals but I would like to add some legal logic that would have had to been argued before passing any laws on lockpicking tools : Why would they have been illegal to own before being a locksmith, if in order to become a locksmith, you need a set to train with...? Same logic applies to a learners permit : you can't drive, you don't own a car, but since you're learning to drive they allow you to do so with supervision.
Always use your noggin on if something is illogical before thinking it's illegal, because people with far more time, brains, and legal knowledge already thought of that...

EARiderNo, it's really not, depends on the state, most states law enforcement need to show intent to use in a crime to prosecute.

EARiderYou can only be charged with a crime, if they can prove you committed, or tried to commit, a crime. Criminal tools is a secondary charge that gets added after they catch you using them. At worst they will be confiscated.
