" a bona fide locksmith; lock distributor; bona fide repossessor; motor vehicle dealer; lock manufacturer; or a motor vehicle manufacturer, law enforcement officer; a bona fide fire fighter; a bona fide purchaser for one of the aforementioned; "
Except it's also not illegal to own these tools as a precursor to acquiring a locksmithing license.

Do people still manually pick locks with a tension tool? Pick up a snap gun if you want to quickly open up locks (we're talking 5-10 seconds for most front-door deadbolts in America): http://www.sparrowslockpicks.com/product_p/doubletap.htm

You still have to apply tension.

Are you all at Massdrop completely fucked in the head? Does this come with one free lesson of breaking and entering?

No, he commented to you to point out that they're not just going to ship this to just anybody on the planet...
And BTW, anyone trying to break and enter isn't going to use a lockpick when they can simply DRILL YOUR LOCK just as silently...and, unless I'm "completely fucked in the head", cordless drills and bits are FAR easier to obtain...
Next you'll be crying about people buying sledgehammers and crowbars at the local Home Depot...

No a bipass is faster than a drill, but a drill requires less skill

I tend to agree with others that not much effort or thought was put into listing this kit. The stand is a joke and I don't think you can find a poorer quality set of picks. Very disappointed and would return if that was an option. I've had my good and bad purchases with MassDrop and I keep coming back. This was a poor purchase on my part.
STAFF: You must realize the customer depends on you. I used to believe if MassDrop listed a product then they had already done their due dilligence into the product. We as your customers trust this in you. SouthOrd ST-23 Locksmith Kit wasn't very well investigated. Suggestion, don't bring back the SouthOrd ST-23 Locksmith Kit , if you do I'll know you are just about money and don't really care for quality of the goods you sell. I do understand you have to decide between the quality and price to list your products at a reasonable selling price.

My coverman made one of these. He purchased generic lock cylenders from an online company. I pissed him off by simply biting my way through lol. Do you know how many foot pounds of force are in this beak? I have a cousin, blue and gold macaw...What you humans call him.... I watched him bite through a 1/4 inch lock hasp... Case-hardened! Tasty!

Do students or sys admins fall under the requirement to purchase these tools?

It's varies by area, in most places though it is no different to owning a hammer, if you use it on your own, its legal, if you use it to break into someone house, not legal. just google the laws for your area

Pairs great with the expert lock set from scam stuff, for anyone who wants more of a challenge after they master this trainer. Not sure if anyone has linked to this yet, but I bought this as soon as the drop went live this last time. http://www.scamstuff.com/products/advanced-lock-pick-expansion-set

Nice. Much thanks. I needed a good way to practice car wafers without it looking like I was breaking in to one.
