AndrikoNone after the repair. I will say their choice of aviator could be of higher quality, but it is working well for me now. Reach out to their support and see if they can help you.
Would it be possible to add an option to get one "base" end and all three "outs"? I'd like to get a USB-C, Micro, and Mini and be able to swap out between them!
dwAxelAesthetics. If you disconnect your board a lot. This helps protect the usb port from getting damaged from lots of use. People also use those magnetic disconnect cables for port protection
I just don't understand the pricing here. Can the manufacturer/seller explain the costs associated with this product? I'm not expecting margins to be minimal here, I just want to know what's driving the price so much higher from my $25 cable from another run (Cablemods. This is another Drop product).
I'm unsure if the purpose of the middle (aviator) connector is justified outside of aesthetics. What does this connector bring other than having a connector extra from the one on the cable's end?
I thought usb-c was already mitigating some of the degrading that came from plugging peripherals in and out.
What's in the box? Do I get more than a single connector? If the benefit is increasing the life span on the device's connector, can I get an spare aviator to usb for another pc/device? Is the aviator connector really adding an extra $30 from other cable makers that use identical materials? (See link above)
I have so many questions...
Will there be another collaboration to design colors for other keycap sets (i.e. other MiTo's sets like Laser...the XDA one...etc) or is it just this one run and that's it?
I think it's a bit expensive to tempt me to buy this. At roughly $50, I expect functionality to earn its price tag; aesthetics can only go so far.
Hi friend,
This is our first time being featured on Drop, so we were attempting to keep possible options to choose from down as to make it easier to handle and the lead times shorter.
Our pricing is exactly standard to everything else on the market within 5% in either direction.
The Aviator connector (which is required on this order) is $11-$12 of the cost.
The coils which are optional and labor intensive add $19.
In the future runs we do on drop, we'll add the option to opt-out from the aviator connector or select various other detachable ends, this should bring the cost down to those who do not favor the aviator connector or the coils.

spacecablesyeah. that sounds good. im so very tempted by this. but i havent worked in a month. and i dont really need a cable with an aviator thing in the middle. but so pretty ")
@spacecables Is there an update for this product? I explained that I was going to leave for Drop warehouse in 90 days, but it's already been 5 months and it's never been updated. Does it start shipping in September as scheduled for the longest schedule? If so, you should have updated the customer once. In the end, we waited for half a year without explanation.
Sep 28, 2020 plus the inevitable delays with most Drop products, that's unfortunately a hard pass. As someone else said, I don't know where I'll be living then, and in my experience changing your shipping address even during production can mean it still gets shipped to the wrong address. Beautiful cable though.
canyoudigI had the same issue when I ordered something around 6 months ago.
I reached out to drop and they let me know you can actually change your shipping address on a per product basis from your transaction page.
Side note: We as a company anticipate we'll be able to get these to drop inside of 90 days instead of 6 months, so they'll likely ship earlier.
