To achieve equal parts durability, softness, and shape retention, these slim-fitting polos by Spier & Mackay undergo a detailed production process that begins with the fabric. The Ontario-based company starts with extra-long staple cotton, which is known for its silky texture. The cotton is first knit on a Japanese-made Fukuhara knitting machine, then enzyme washed before being dyed and loop dried. The resulting shirt will incur little more than 3 percent shrinkage, meaning it can be washed—and machine dried—time and time again without affecting its shape or fit. Available here are two polo styles. The button-down polo features a three-button neckline and a T-shirt-style sleeve hem; the cutaway-collor polo has the same sleeve hem with a different collar design. Both are available in a wide range of styles and colors.
