Spinnaker is known for its nautically themed timepieces. This one celebrates a side of sailing not often discussed: shipwrecks. Though the subject can be touchy for sailors, the watch does a solid job of conveying it with some key elements. First is the traditional diver approach including chunky hands, circular indices, and a rotating bezel to track elapsed time. The dial and case, however, aren’t clean like on a typical diver. It has a scratched, tarnished look, emphasizing the paradoxical beauty of a ship that’s fallen to the tides. The next cue is the rather odd combination of colors—like something you might find in the wreckage once creatures from the ocean depths have settled. Set on a waterproof leather strap, the 100-meter water-resistant Wreck is fueled by a Seiko NH35A movement.
