Hey Lobster, Thanks for your support and your inquiry about the bearing retention method. There are a few benefits to a loctite held press fit over the screw cap you mentioned. Most Chinese made spinners have the screw cap that holds the bearing in place, and the main problem with this is that the threads can be stripped. If the threads are stripped, you are potentially out on the body of the spinner, the cap that holds the bearing in, and even the bearing itself if uneven pressure was placed on the races from the cap being screwed unevenly or too tightly. By machining tight tolerances to hold the bearing in place, we can ensure that the bearing has even pressure applied around the race which leads to a better overall spin with less risk of ruining the pieces on something you just invested your hard earned money on. Personally I have not had a problem with my bearings from drops. I have heard in the community from customers of other manufacturers who use r188s that dropping the spinner ruined their r188 bearing, but like I said I have not found this with my nanobo or heard this kind of feedback about my bearings at all. Sitting on the spinner won't lead to the bearing popping out either, you need a bit of direct pressure to remove it. If you do want to remove your bearing, I recommend a socket that lines up with the outer race of the bearing, where you can place the spinner on top of the socket and apply even pressure to the wings and it will pop the bearing out. I hope this helps, if there is anything else you would like some clarification on please let me know, I am here to help!

Let me tell you, it's never "a couple of bucks" for us in Canada-land (and I suspect, in other parts of the world too). We're talking $18, $25, and sometimes $40 shipping charges on simple, lightweight items such as spinners, knives, adapters, cables, very small electronics, and many, many simple and small things like that. Absolutely crazy. Sometimes I have no choice, for difficult to find items I have to ask my friends to buy it and send it to me, for a few dollars, using USPS.
In general, it's absolutely appalling how USA based online stores are ill equipped for international shipping, and don't give a sh!t about it, either. Typical corporate short shortsightedness - I mean, how much sales are they willing to sacrifice because they can't choose decent shipping methods, or can't choose a decent logistics partner (no, FedEx and UPS are not good solutions either)? Don't they like taking our money? So 1997.
Massdrop, on the other hand, has thought this through and has chosen a third party, Asendia, to many international buyers' delight. It's not perfect, but it's not the sorry state other online stores are in (as far as international shipping is concerned).

BobrazMaybe Massdrop should rebrand as an international group buy site, then. Sounds like the advantages are much greater for those non-US markets!
what are the typical spin times?

bookquotemonsterI wanted to point out that I've been discussing my issue with David at SpinProDesigns and we both think it's due to a defective bearing in my particular unit (slightly bent bearing retainer).
I understand that imperfections and and do happen and David has been very gracious and forthcoming so far today about working out the details of making it right.
So it sounds like my experience with relatively short spin times definitely shouldn't be the norm.

A couple of questions: Is the bearing easily removable for cleaning, or is it press fit? Are there shields on the bearing & pix of it? What are the diameter & height of the buttons? Thanks much!

Cobra5Hey Cobra5, Thanks for your interest! The bearing in the Nanobo is a Hybrid Ceramic R188 that comes shielded. The shields are held on by C-Clips if you choose to remove them, but I have been carrying mine for months now in a pouch when in my pocket, and thanks to the shields I have not felt the need to clean it even once. The bearing is held in with just a tiny amount of Loctite Threadlocker 242. With just a bit of pressure you can remove the bearing for replacement or cleaning. As for the dimensions of the buttons, they are just under 19mm in diameter, and just under 11mm in height. If you have any other questions please let me know, I am here to help!
