The Delica 4 has long been a staple of Spyderco’s EDC lineup. It’s lightweight, has a well-designed handle, and fits comfortably into any pants pocket Read More
"Note: Due to additional scrutiny and increased seizures at Customs this drop will be limited to members within the US. Quantities are limited to 100 units."
- So is this just a retailer dictated BS excuse to exclude everyone outside the US on this particular knife, or are Massdrop going to stop shipping all knives to all countries outside the US as of now?
AotearoanDepends where you live I guess. If you're Canadian you might as well get it in Canada since Spyderco has a M.A.P. and the 15$ you save here you'll just pay double in customs anyways.
I believe there is a character missing in the model number (C11GRE) given in the spaces. Could MD please confirm that the correct model number is C11PGRE.
IF this is the Spyderco C11PGRE, the MD price - without the case! - is competitive at $86.88, including shipping – eg: it’s currently listed on Knife Center at $98.97, with free shipping.
YMMV, of course, but I consider the Delica to be the ideal EDC folder. I’ve had a Delica in my pocket for more than 25 years, and I’ve found the Delica 4 with a flat ground ZDP-189 blade to be the best iteration of this great design.
Novanglian I have seen the model referred to both ways. I think the "P " means the plain edge version as opposed to the Spyderedge(Serrated) or combo edge. Leaving the letter out would refer to it generally. That is my assumption anyway
ShrashFrom what I can gather, C11 is a Delica 4. P is plain edge, S is Spyderedge, PS is combo edge. F is flat ground. No letter before the edge grind is hollow grind. BK, BL, GR, etc are standard color codes. No color code is stainless. Not sure what titanium and G10 would be.
The Wharncliffe one I want is something like C11FPWCBK.
This lacks the F and has a 3 character color code (granted it‘s a special colored scale), but the code on my box does include a blade grind, despite no serrated option in ZDP-189, so outside of the VG10 models, it looks like it gets a little sketchy in the coding.
Got mine in the mail today. Great little knife and much lighter than my PM2 or Benchmade. The action is pretty good for a back lock and I actually am liking the FRN handles, which I was a little skeptical of. I love the no frills "simplicity of design" approach to this knife and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone on the fence about buying this.
Jesus christ, guys.
Constantly saying 'this is expensive, it's the same price on Amazon' doesn't make you look smart.
Learn to read, come back, apologize for being stupid.
losingroundI ordered here because it is cheaper than amazon. Order without the sheath discounts an extra $15.
Edit: And it is cheaper than all other online knife stores, like bladehq.
I checked these out. Nice steel, but decided on Kershaw leek Ken Onion. Cb/d2. Slim for edc. Fits alongside my pocket watch in tight jeans. Maybe I'll get a larger spyd for camping. I also loved the Benchmade griptillion. Will definitely get that one.
FWIW, don't be intimidated by sharpening ZDP189. It's not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, and doesn't seem to form a burr unless you really try to force one. It also doesn't seem to be as chippy as some suggest.
