Time for Spyderco to ditch FRN and move to better materials. I don't see Chinese companies cheaping out with FRN.

BoxBladeThe nice thing about FRN, is it is *lighter* than any alternative, except carbon fiber. A G-10 or titanium Delica would be much heavier. And it does help to keep the price down.
A carbon fiber Delica would be cool....

frankieboy4dfrankieboy4d- I hear you on the weight. I just think the Chinese are eating Spyderco and Benchmade for lunch. There's a youtube channel called Stassa23 that does knife reviews and he has a Delica HAP 40 with custom anzo CF scales. Very cool. Thanks for your take on the subject.

BoxBladeNever had an issue with spyderco's frn - just anecdotal evidence obviously, but I've had one delica and two endura's, and the frn was lightweight, grippy, and tough.

HellreaverHellreaver- FRN is durable and light, no doubt. I just believe that with the increased competition coming from China, US companies need to up their game. Thanks for your comment.

BoxBladeYou mean, like the popular Steel Will Cutjack? There are many popular Chinese and American knives that use FRN and in the case of the Spyderco Delica, 4, the tests I have seen show the blade is the first thing to break when tested to failure. Variations of this nylon material are used in modern firearms from all major manufacturers. Benchmade uses glass filled nylon in their most popular knives, such as the 154CM versions of the Griptilian. Nylon is the standard scale material in the Ontario RAT series of knives. Many Cold Steel knives use FRN without liners, as does the Boker Patriot and USA produced FOX knives (who actually make the Boker Patriot).
