Product Description
Literally years in the making, Spyderco’s K2 is the brainchild of knifemaker Farid Mehr. As Farid tells it, he drew the design for the bowie-style blade, then forgot about it, only to remember the drawing a couple of years later Read More

Looks like a good knife for skinning deer, and easy to clean.

I'm having problems with late lockup on my K2--the lock up is late to begin with--80% (it's universally late on every K2). And now the lock has traveled to almost 100%. Blade play will happen in the near future and this knife is only a couple months old.

lobsterDid you get lubricant on the lock face? If you did, clean it all off with something like rubbing alcohol. Keep that sucker clean. Being what appears to be slightly hardened titanium, you'll want to do everything you can to keep it clean.

It's a very nice knife, but the Slysz Bowie is its sane brother. More comfortable, and nicer fit/finish.

I'm going for the Slysz Bowie, myself.
This is an interesting knife. I like the design, but I feel like there's something slightly unfinished looking about it.
I love the stark simplicity of it. It so unadorned, it almost feels like the designer experimented with paper cutout shapes to figure out the design, and then just went for the flat cutout look.
I think it's cool. Kind of reminds me how a knife might be portrayed in a children's book - flat shapes and simple outlines. Very clean and simple.
The swooped blade is interesting. It suggests an Eastern influence.
Somehow the blade doesn't feel visually integrated with the handle to me, however. Something about how the curved spine meets the tip, and the dramatic upsweep of the blade, that doesn't seem consistent with the lines and curves of the handle to my eye.
Still, a very interesting design. If it weren't so large, I would consider purchasing it. I'm glad Massdrop is offering these higher end Spyderco knives.

Spyderco has been getting a bit audacious with their chinese produced blade prices. I get that this is a high quality knife but c'mon. Just look at the Boker Stingray price.

zebra6kThis is not a Chinese knife, it's a Taiwanese knife. There is a huge difference between the two; spydercos made in Taiwan are considered to be of the highest quality available in their lines and are superior to any others that Spyderco produces.

zebra6kIt is not Chinese at all. Taiwan has labor laws that mirror ours. Boker Stingray is made in China and has 440C that is heat treated IN China.
Go find any other production folder in 10V steel at $100....at $200...at $300...at $400.... I'll wait :)
