The compact Lil Lum Nishijin folder is a scaled-down version of the Lum Chinese Folder, a knife that pays homage to the traditional Chinese Shilin Cutter. Featuring a bamboo leaf–shaped blade with Spyderco’s signature thumb hole, the Lil Lum boasts excellent edge geometry Read More
It seems a decent deal either way, but clarity in pricing is important. Also that extra $5 might just be the tipping point for some folks to not wait and buy elsewhere.
I had a nishijin knife and found it awful. Scratchy to hold, and garish to look at. I thought the pattern didn't really connect with the rest of the design. Probably the rough edges that really put me off, though. It was a Spyderco Stretch.
Commit at 131.97 ? You kiddn me, it’s on FleaBay now trending 129.00 with free shipping and no sales tax( from Texas) lol. Screw Spyderco anyway, they rise prices for 8% this year...
I realize that. But I'd also argue that a 20 dollar discount isn't worth waiting a month. Every Spyderco drop on is basically not worth it. I get that Massdrop can't really do better. But still.
PapaEmeritusI feel like most people with this complaint are from the States. Massdrop is good for international customers where shipping for Blade HQ or any of those American retailers is more expensive.
This is a lovely knife, but part of the writeup is incorrect. The knife is an homage to a Chinese style, but Nishijin is a part of Kyoto, Japan known for its weaving. The weaving technique for which it is known is called Nishijin-ori. The scales are Japanese.
I love this knife. I have the black handled variety. It's been my everyday carry for the last two years. It holds a razor sharp edge and fits perfectly in the "fifth" pocket / coin pocket of my jeans. It's light enough that I don't notice it's there but it's always ready to be deployed.
