Isn't the manix 2 typically made of S30V? And if not, how does BD1 compare to S30V? I haven't heard of that steel before. Can the clip be moved for tip-down/left-right placement?

evan.booneBD1 is entry level steel. You can get a great edge easily and it won't chip or fold with ease, BUT edge retention is piss poor. Basically it's a average use steel. It's great for most people, but it's awful for those of us that want our knives to perform while being pushed hard. I'm gonna pass on this... would have totally gone for it if it was made of a good intermediate to super steel.

evan.booneThat's for the standard g10 models, this is the lightweight version. BD1 is about on par with Spyderco's VG-10. Spyderco replaced Gin-1 with this steel in some models a fews years back. It's a good steel for edc.
