Some of those knife pictured are seconds. Not really a problem, but i assume Spyderco will not fix for free in a repair is needed.

PorkfriedchristI too am a big fan of Spyderco. I carry my Military 2 every day. I have a Wayne Goddard that was a gift that i sent in for repair, that they did not fix. However, i wanted it back. So they laser etched the symbol you see on the close up photo of the black blade, on the opposite side of the Spyderco symbol. They did this so i would not send it in a get a new knife. These being seconds or rebuilds is no big deal. This very knife is my favorite to carry and i carry it every day! This IS A GREAT DEAL for some VERY FINE STEEL! And for full disclosure, i ordered this very knife directly from Spyderco from their outlet store 2 weeks ago just before i joined the Spyderco Titanium Military II drop. That knife also had the very same etching on the blade. Beautiful knife....but it was $204.00 instead of 124.00! So if i hadn't already committed to the Titanium version, i too would join this drop as well. Just trying to help. Enjoy this Drop....im sure you wont be sorry.

John_G@LukasM @JonasHeineman : guys will this drop's knives be seconds, or brand new untarnished?
It's true that those pics show a laser etched symbol, which @John_G identified as reserved for seconds... and I remember some forum threads that seemed to say this too.
Please let us know! I would probably prefer dropping out of this drop in this case...

BobrazWhat laser etched symbol? Spyderco marks seconds by grinding a notch on the spine of the knife....

RandomerI read, some time ago and on the interwebs, that some knife manufacturer etches (or stamps?) a logo on the blades of seconds, or slightly blemished knives, before selling them at discount. When I read the post by @John_G, I remembered that and thought this weird symbol to be that.
But you're absolutely right, after researching it again, I found this particular symbol here to be in fact Eric Glasser's 'signature'!
I did not find the exact reference I had read - when I originally read that, I did not pay much attention to it - I now realize it must be another manufacturer...
So my bad and false alarm! Sorry! No seconds here, don't even think that Massdrop would sell seconds ('if' one day they elect to) without a huge disclaimer, so it's a classic case of jumping to conclusions too hastily...
