Kitchen-Inspired Blade With NASA-Developed Steel
Combining the user-friendly aspects of a chef’s knife with the portability of a folding knife, the SpydieChef covers a lot of bases. Measuring just under 8 inches long, it features a sheepsfoot-trailing-point combo blade that excels in slicing, skinning, and detail work. The blade steel used is a rare one known as LC200N: an ultra corrosion-resistant, nitrogen-based steel that was developed by NASA. To open the blade, use the signature Spyderco thumb hole. A Reeve integral frame lock prevents the blade from closing once open. As for the handle, it’s made from two slabs of titanium. Cutouts on each scale allow you to place the clip in a tip-up orientation on either side. The open-back handle design makes cleanup easy if you get messy with the SpydieChef.
