How does s30v compare to its previous counterpart CTS XHP?

Pantsu_BearS30v is a fantastic steel. It gets very sharp and holds an edge well.

Pantsu_BearS30V and CTS-XHP behave very similarly in use - you won't see a difference unless you're doing exacting side-by-side comparisons. In terms of pure edge-holding, I believe that S30V will come out slightly ahead. However, I actually prefer XHP to S30V because the vanadium carbides in S30V make it noticeably more difficult to sharpen.
