It should come as little surprise that the Spyderco Valloton Sub-Hilt recalls the stiletto-style switchblades of the 1950s. After all, the designer of this glossy folder—Butch Valloton—has long been a fan of both automatic knives and Italian-style folders. Hollow-ground at the cutting edge, with a convex grind at the tip, the plain-edge blade is made of CPM S30V stainless steel. Two thumb studs provide for right- and left-handed opening and double as stop pins to prevent blade overtravel, while the Michael Walker liner lock secures the blade when open.
Note: Due to the sensitive nature of shipping knives internationally, we are able to ship only some of the knives on Massdrop to select countries. It is the responsibility of the buyer to know and comply with all importation regulations and local laws. Click here for additional information.
The uniqueness of the knife is due in large part to the faux-textured, highly polished G-10 handle, with its sub hilt and its tongue-and-groove stainless steel bolsters. Elsewhere on the handle, the detachable clip offers four different configurations for tip-up and tip-down carry, and for right- and left-handed users.
