This is Bullshit Massdrop. Enough. Offer a deep discount or a Sprint run. No more of this standard model at the standard price shit. If you want this knife, buy it from BladeHQ which has much faster shipping for the same price. https://www.bladehq.com/item--Spyderco-Vallotton-Sub-Hilt-G-10--9121

SCBaldrBecause it's not just about you, the purchaser in the USA. For Canadian and - based on comments I have read - other foreign buyers, Massdrop is actually one of the best sources, since many other online shops charge incredibly gouging shipping fees when shipping knives to foreign countries. Massdrop's using Ascendia as their shipping partner, and - in my personal experience - that company has very reasonable fees compared to UPS 🤮 and FedEx 🤮. I think buyers in the United States have to stop thinking that if it's not compelling for them, it's not going to be interesting at all. Not everything is about you USA guys and gals; the world is Massdrop's market, and their Spyderco offerings can actually be very compelling for scores of foreign buyers! 😎

BobrazLet me make this abundantly clear. Very simply put, Massdrop is an American company, whose primary market is the US, that happens to ship worldwide. I do not care what the availability of certain knives is in other countries. If your distribution in these countries is not up to par for whatever reason, that is in no way the fault or the problem of Massdrop's primary market, the US.

SCBaldrIf the deal isn't for you, don't buy it. Massdrop has dozens of knife deals at any given time...just move along, not everything is about you. Massdrop knows what they're doing, and wouldn't market something for sale at a price point that won't sell. Is that "abundantly clear" enough? It's a business, and you and your opinions ain't the only customer around.

SCBaldrHmmmm, this answer just shows how oblivious and ignorant you are of online strategy, globalization, and commerce. Without international trade, most companies would (and will) be toast, regardless if you, me, or others like it or not. I'm not in favor of savage globalization - I actually shop locally as much as I can - but we nonetheless live in the era of globally integrated markets and online shopping. China is already the biggest market in the world, dwarfing puny USA and Canada... and you would ignore that and cling to your old school thoughts? It's your right! But don't think Massdrop strategists thinks like you, it would be foolish of them!

Or, you could do some research instead of taking Massdrop at it's word. If you did, you'd learn that most of the blades community (and the bulk of the other communities) is/are US based. But this is really beside the point, the point is that selling something for what is full price everywhere else on the internet and well above Amazon's price, ON A GROUP-BUYING PLATFORM, (that is what Massdrop is) whose purpose is specifically offering group buys on products which are either exclusive deeply discounted or both. This one is neither. That's the point in case it wasn't clear.

BobrazYour information is something new to me. Thanks for the enlightening. I liked SCBaldr’s initial posting, but I certainly don’t mind them selling things that don’t necessarily work for me. The apparent abrasive ‘nationalistic’ attitude I felt in the reply didn’t seem warranted.

SCBaldrIn this discussion, I totally am with you about the price aspect, and the fact that group buying should result in lower prices. But you have to know, in this particular case, the blame it's really on Spyderco. Indeed, they enforce a minimum selling price on retailers, who are barred from selling at less than that price, even in group sales. But I disagree about the Blades community aspect. I have been on Massdrop for a long time, even had the chance to receive samples from Product Managers for testing, reviewing, etc. And in that time, I have seen many, many enthusiastic blades community members that come from all countries and continents, to Massdrop's delight. Indeed, Massdrop should (and does!) embrace buyers from all over the world to stay relevant, and to have ever growing purchase groups. And they are successfully reaching out globally to consumers everywhere, not focusing solely on the USA. This is beyong a doubt the reason why two of Massdrop's main shipping partners are DHL and Asendia, two international shipping companies (from Germany and Switzerland!) that have created affordable and optimized shipping logistics to reach all over the globe - and in North America. My whole point was - and I did not mean any disrespect by it -, that it's not because the deal is uninteresting to you in the USA, that it's necessarily going to be uninteresting to everyone, everywhere...
