This is one of the most copied high end Spyderco blades out there. You can buy a perfect knock off for under $20.00 from china and you can't tell the difference at all. The steel even holds a strong edge.

iarchetypeYou sound a bit like a troll, but because others might read this I'm taking the bait. You are absolutely wrong. Aside from the ethical arguments, a chinese fake may look a lot like the real one but they are going to use as cheap materials as possible. The scales (handles) will probably not be G10, the steel will be subgrade - may take and edge but not hold it or be brittle or?? , other parts and workmanship will be subgrade - blade wobbly, opening and closing issues, lock mechanism could be weak and fail when being used (so don't worry if you cut off a finger, you probably have a few others left). If you only have $20 for a knife, get a legitimate one for that. There are lots of good ones out there. If you want one to just hang on your wall, then a knockoff of this knife MIGHT be ok if you don't mind everyone laughing at you. Other things, I just looked at Amazon and find this knife for $107.58. I think Amazon is watching/matching prices.

ShrashI just looked there too, but I don't think the Amazon steel is the s30v

JinBoiseI went back and looked, the blade in the picture shows s30v and the knife on the spyderco page (model C85G2) shows the same.

ShrashI have no idea where you're getting the troll from, just relating personal experience. I have the real one and the fake and I can tell you there is virtually no difference on this particular knife. Obviously the steel isn't going to be S30V, but it holds an edge, and performs well. Personally I'm not a fan of S30V steel. In my opinion the fake is probably D2 but that's just a guess. The many Spyderco Paramilitary versions I have contain some obvious tells. However the quality across those clones isn't that bad either especially compared with the original. The only worthless spyderco clone I have is the Vallatton but I'm primarily a collector and I don't even use my original.

iarchetypeMost people don't like to spend money on "mystery steel" clones that hide their original brand by pretending to be another - they literally have no reason to be quality. There are various steel grades for a reason. I highly doubt you have a respectable collection of good knives if you promote clones. Even if your particular clone is "good enough steel for you" it doesn't mean another clone in even the same model will have the same qualities. I rather spend the extra money and know what quality I'm getting. Most people don't have time for those games.
