The Star Wars: Black Series Risk boasts a huge collection of Star Wars–themed models, figures, and board games to keep your mind from wandering to the chaos around the galaxy. In this special edition of the classic board game Risk, you can relive the final moments of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Read More
Just FYI this game has nothing to do with RISK. It’s not even close. Defenders cant roll die to defend. You can’t play cards to “risk”. There’s no conquering of territories. You must move all troops from one area to another - can’t leave any behind. It’s basically a terrific Star Wars game with nothing to do with Risk. Ha!
SterlingBourneI disagree, there ARE some RISK elements - but not a lot. There is a bonus for clearing a Sector, there are Cards you can play each turn with varying effects/benefits, and its important to choose where to focus your forces (as there are 3 basic play areas). And you still move troops from one sector to another, deploy more troops in sectors you control, and fight based on Troop strength via Dice
leovaThere happens to be some commonalities with RISK, but his is actually a reimplementation of Star Wars: Queen's Gambit, a much larger (and pricier) board game that tied in to Episode I.
Got this back on Dec28th when it was down at $23, and its a great purchase at that price. $30 is probably also OK
the game itself, I played with a friend, it was VERY fun, and every single battle came down to the wire! Luke and Vader went the distance, my Troopers held the ShieldGen JUST long enough, and at the very end, as if the Force itself was guiding it all, one band of 2 Xwings survived and my Death Star gunners couldn't hit them, allowing the Rebels to blow it up and win the game
really cool game with some sweet minis - the ONLY downside is that my Star Destroyer mini came a bit limp/bent at the tip, but the game itself is packaged/boxed/secured beautifully, and it makes a GREAT gift for any Star Wars fan :)
Afterwards, I thought about the RISK-elements of it, and there really are a good amount, even though they are a bit altered. You can still play cards to deploy/gain/move/attack with troops, and certain others give instant boosts, as does clearing out all enemies in an area like in RISK. Very cool game, definitely recommend it! :)
This site could be so cool, but they keep doing things like this. They'll sell an item like this for $49.99 and a few months later they resell it for half the price. Should I just not buy things until they are dirt cheap? Seems the be the case here. Guess you should all wait until this drops to $11.99 at this rate.
I just received my package today and it looked beat to hell. The package was open and smashed. I pulled out the game and 3 of the corners have damage and 2 of those are smashed inward and slightly ripped. A real shame seeing as this is the Black series and half of the appeal is the aesthetic s of the box and contents. Not happy.
