Similar to Pathfinder, Starfinder is a comprehensive RPG game that challenges players to develop their characters, vehicles, resources, and relationships. Set thousands of years in a future rife with mystery, intrigue, and plenty of plunder, the game invites you to search for lost alien artifacts, to battle with rune-enhanced armor, to hack into the intergalactic mainframe, and to scour the stars to uncover the universe’s quandaries Read More
This seems kind of expensive for a Drop deal. These five items are currently $108.77 on Amazon (shipped free with Prime). That $15 difference is essentially another supplement (or the GM screen, and you’d still save $5)...
Myc.25(For reference of future passers-by, this is referring to the 5-book drop, with Core Rulebook, Alien Archive, Character Folio, Armory, and Pact Worlds, for $124. Sounds like a previous iteration may have been $120, but they've changed which books were included in the drop at least one time, so hard to say if that was the same.)
nedstarksbastardmostly, with some rules adjustments it seems. But you can play Elves, Dwarves, Space Insects, walking brain-men, ratfolk, and carry longswords, laser pistols, forcefield generators, and AI drones, while using your cybernetic and biotech augments to hack the enemy's electronics.
its sweet, i hope this drop comes back soon so I can buy these!
nedstarksbastardIf you are familiar with Pathfinder then yes they share a lot though there are significant mechanical changes. Lore wise this is the same universe set several thousand years in the future so a lot of the same deities exist (though some have apparently disappeared and been replaced by new ones).
Combat and other rules have been simplified in many ways, making for more streamlined gameplay while still keeping the level of customizability that makes Pathfinder distinct from DnD 5e.
For anyone unsure of whether they would like the system, I recommend you listen to the Androids and Aliens podcast. That is Paizo (the publishing company’s) official actual-play podcast. The group that plays does a good job of trying to stick to the rules and they are simply awesome. Listening to them is what made me want to give the system a try and I can tell you starfinder is amazingly fun.
As far as I can tell, you can purchase all these things for a total of $75 anywhere else. A 7% discount isn't extra inspiring. *This comment was for a prior, smaller version of this drop
