Hey non-crafters,
Please be respectful in the comments when asking questions and voicing opinions about products. The Stella Task Lamp is a specific niche product for crafters (quilters, sewers, etc) and intended to be used in a setting where color reproduction is very important. Just because you might not immediately appreciate the value in the product, doesn't mean you should come over here and insult it and display your ignorance.
Quilter's don't go to the keyboard products and say "why would someone pay a $150 for a keyboard that makes better clicky-noises, that's ridiculous" or "$600 for headphones lololol".
I'm not an expert in the specific product, but it is highly reviewed on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CI7ZJCC
And other color-reproduction task-lamps are similarly priced at $100+ http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009XELXDW (with 200+ reviews)
And there's hundreds of pages of threads on quiltingboard.com comparing and contrasting different task lamp's.
So it's clear that there's a market for these, and it's appreciated by the niche, but probably not the most worthwhile purchase to someone who wants a device capable of "lighting up your desk so that you can see stuff".

MarkMark, Please see my reply below that will put all of the naysayers to bed, but also helps those who's jaws dropped at the price of this Stella Lamp.
