Thanks again for joining this drop! We have submitted the group's order with the vendor for the Steripen Ultra UV Water Purifier and they are working hard to prepare it for shipment.
As soon as the group's order is ready at the vendor's location, they will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey where our warehouse team will break it up into individual orders and ship them. The current estimated ship date from our warehouse is 6/28.

I like Steripens but I'm not crazy about internal li-ion batteries. They never last as long as advertised and once they're worn out the unit is done. They also lose their charge when stored which makes them less than ideal for emergencies. Is it possible to get a the "AA" version for a Massdrop?

Boy, all my research into reviews has shown a considerable amount of people finding this thing unreliable... Any comments from owners of this device? I'm basically done experimenting with unreliable lightweight water treatment, but I look forward to 20 years from now when something exactly like this product is more robust.

invsblduckOthers will have more positive experiences, but my first and only experience with Steripen wasn't good. I had this same model.
On our first trip with this, a six day backpacking trip in Idaho, it conked out with a sad face and a bulb icon. This indicated the bulb had gone bad. Add in the pre-trip testing, and we had used it about five days total before it died.
Since water treatment is, of course, vital, I am just not willing to chance it with a Steripen today. If you do bring one, bring backup (drops, tabs, etc). We had some tabs, but I foolishly didn't bring enough to last the remaining days, so we had to bail early.
