Compared to the 681s these are a bight naturally brighter. Tension up top is a bit rougher after a while too. Love them though, especially once you start fiddling with them.

Bog4rtthanks for the input. I'm assuming these have the same earpads that get sweaty? haha i really wanted velour beyerdynamic earpads but it didn't feel right spending more for the pads than the headphones!
i sold off my denon d2000, beyer dt990, and also my grado sr-125i. now i'm left with my HD681 and my two or three pairs of KSC-75...still curious about this one though, may have to pick it up.

DeltronZeroNot sure if you're still looking for velour pads, but I got one for my 681 from fleabay for about sub $15 shipped. They're not as good as Beyer ones, but better than pleather. I found it also reduces the bass somewhat (to be expected).

DeltronZeroThe pads do get a little sweaty. I have the same pair, and bought AKG K240 velour pads (IIRC they're about 20$), works like a charm.
