The commando saws are lighter and cheaper... but they don't cut well and they break easily. The chainsaw types like in this drop are tough. Their problem is width. They are wider than handsaws like the Outdoor Edge Griz or any bow saw blade. Bow saw blades are cheap, easy to carry and you can easily make your own frame in the field if you don't want to carry one. I have been using the $6 Harbor Freight Bow Saw when day hiking and backpacking for many years now. Has never let me down and I can literally make ten cuts with it in the same log in the time it takes to make one cut with the chainsaw style blade in this drop.
