I own these speakers, and use them with the Aune T1 as the DAC. The combo is great for a 'low budget' setup, in fact I couldn't imagine something better for the computer in this price range. I recently raised them off my desk(higher than before, now tweeters at ear level) and they have a new airyness to them which is a nice noticable improvement.
A bummer about the shipping, these are heavy though, esp the speaker with the amp in it. I read numerous times before buying these that they are comparable to the audioengine a5's though(some say even better), so it could still very well be worth it for the $. I bought these online from china and shipped them to Japan while I was there, then brought them home in my suitcase. I'd do that all again too, if that helps any on the fence.

fathercosmosWould you have any way to compare the Swans to the Polk rti4? I'm interested, but the Polks are the only bookshelves in this price range that I've owned. Otherwise, can you tell me a little about their sound signature? I'll be using the Peachtree DAC-itX, a higher end DAC that will probably make these speakers very transparent, possibly too transparent... I'm afraid I might need better speakers to match unless you think these really are great.
