If space is a concern then these are very good desktop speakers. If you have the space for a cheap, separate amp then I'd recommend the Chane A1rx. The Chanes sound head over heels better than the Swans and my Swans have been relegated to dust collection duty.
The A1rx I got from the previous MD drop, then I just bought a cheap power amp from amazon so the total was about the cost of the swans. The Chanes are so good I joined the A2rx drop.
